Crossing Point
Crossing Point

While on a dog walk I came across this little bridge at the end of a muddy path that leads along the side of the river Aln in Northumberland. I loved the peacefulness of this shady spot with the river in the background and wanted to capture that feeling in this painting.

Into the Forest
Into the Forest

When I walk through a really old forest thick with bracken, hear the sounds and smell the smells I am taken back to when I was a little girl running about and finding primroses at the foot of the trees. For me these woodlands are almost about a feeling rather than a place. However just in case you wanted to know, this particular woodland is just outside a little village called Caplane in the Gironde.

Richmond Bridge

I’ve taken many many walks along the Thames and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it the same twice. This side of the bridge is my favourite - away from most of the hustle and bustle. You can walk along to Ham and get the little ferry home again.

Richmond Bridge from the railway bridge. This area is beautiful - trees on the islands on the Thames, houseboats and the hustle and bustle of Richmond in the distance. Loosestrife thrives on the river bank along here and provides the most wonderful colours.

Where the Path Bends
Where the Path Bends

The South Hams incorporates part of the South West Coastal Path - a favourite for long (hilly!) walks in the fresh air. I simply love the winding paths edged with long grasses, sea pinks, cow parsley and the occasional bright yellow oil seed rape flower that has escaped the fields to live a safer life!

Shady River
Shady River

There is nothing more magical than a shady river. This one is called L’Eyre and runs from the Landes to the Basin d’Arcachon in South West France and the trees along its banks are old woodland as opposed to the more common maritime pines you see in the region. Its sandy banks make for a tranquil resting place to stop and take a moment.

In the springtime when most things haven’t really got going you can count on bluebells to really put on a great show. It’s one of the highlights of my year - bluebell woods, nice walk, pub lunch. Done.
